Milestone redesigns its educational model and focuses on Latin American audiences

Latin America. Milestone Systems, the leading open platform company in IP network video management (VMS) software, announces its revamped Education Training and Performance program. A series of courses in mixed, face-to-face and virtual mode, aimed at Milestone partners.

One of the fundamental differences between the company's previous academic offer and the current educational model is the separation between the training contents and the certification exams.

"Previously we offered courses that concluded directly in a certification exam to install our products. The main goal of educating was being set aside and, in the process, our partners were also losing interest in such content," says Juan Carlos George, milestone systems' sales manager for Latin America.

The current educational program is divided into two categories, according to the type of solution that is required to know or that will be acquired for an installation: new products or advanced products.

Another novelty of the model is that it includes updated content, focused on learning and delivering valuable and quality information, more interested in delivering knowledge that directs the user towards updating and permanent training in installation and configuration.

"We have three courses that, in turn, have three exams that are required to be able to sell the advanced certifications. We have the technical course, which is a three-day practical course; the design course, which is two days and the engineering course, which is a more advanced content, focused on taking advantage of the big projects that include our open platform, "explains George and adds that the first two courses are mandatory when you want to market the advanced products of Milestone Systems.

Milestone Systems' training program now includes expanded methodologies in virtual channels. Such is the case of the new web portal called Training and Performance, which in addition to offering the possibility of taking some online courses, has diversified the formats of presentation of the contents with tutorials, presentations and audiovisual material. In addition, the courses are in both English and Spanish and most are free.

"We want to reach the majority of the public and transfer knowledge efficiently, so we designed this mixed, face-to-face and virtual methodology, both for those who enjoy and can be in the classroom, and for those who cannot travel or do not have availability and must take the courses on their time and from anywhere, "- indicates John C.

In the face-to-face mode, Milestone courses have been held in Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Chile.

The sales manager for Latin America points out that "the Latin market is very important for the company. It is a region that is in continuous growth both in the commercial part and in support and engineering. So our educational offer aims for our integrators to be prepared, updated and achieve quality knowledge, because without them we can do nothing."
Milestone Systems' new educational model recently received two Silver awards from Brandon Hall Group's Learning Excellence Program. The first of them to Best Certification Program by the Training and Certification program and the second to Best Progress in Competencies and Skills Development by the Training and Performance program.
