Introduce radar technology which provides accurate detection over large areas

Latin America. Axis Communications introduces radar technology to its broad product portfolio. The area detection technology ignores many common indicators that result in false alarms, and has been designed to facilitate installation and integration with existing systems.

Axis Communications, presents its new AXIS D2050-VE network radar detector. Radar technology is used for accurate and reliable detection of moving objects in different light and weather conditions. Radar also makes it possible to cover large areas, while thermal cameras are better suited for long-distance protection. Developed primarily for medium-sized industrial facilities, the product is designed to integrate with Axis cameras and video management systems (VMS), in addition to surveillance and video management systems from other vendors.

AXIS D2050-VE is vandal-proof and recommended for outdoor use, and can provide real-time information about the position, speed, angle and size of a moving object. With a greater range than passive infrared sensors, it covers a wide spectrum of detection field, while minimizing the number of false alarms caused by spiders, small animals, moving shadows or light reflections. The radar motion detector can be set to trigger video recording, a speaker speaker or a light to deter and enhance visual confirmation on the cameras.

Axis' radar-powered detector can be used as a stand-alone product or as part of a surveillance system. Thanks to its open interface, it is compatible with Axis cameras and can be easily integrated with AXIS Camera Station and AXIS Camera Management software, as well as other video systems, for easy management and maintenance.

"Our radar offers great area coverage, detects motion with high accuracy and reduces false alarms. Compared to simple motion detectors, AXIS D2050-VE provides additional information on detected objects that enables automatic tracking with Axis PTZ cameras. Now customers can easily add radar technology to their new or existing surveillance systems to protect their facilities," says Francisco Ramirez, Country Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean at Axis Communications.

Axis' first detector with network radar technology, AXIS D2050-VE, is affordable, wall-mounted and designed primarily for outdoor use with wide detection coverage of 120° and 50 meters. It is powered by Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) cable for easy installation, with IP66, IK08 and NEMA 4X certifications for harsh environments. The detector can be operated in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C (-40 to 140°F).

AXIS D2050-VE is available through Axis distribution channels.
