Guatemala. HID Global announced its participation in High Security Printing Latin America, an event that will take place in Guatemala City from June 19 to 21, 2017, and where the company will present the conference "Physical and mobile identities: how to coexist peacefully", which will be given by Jorge Castrillo, Sales Director of Government Solutions for Latin America of HID Global.
The conference, scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, at 11:20 AM, aims to analyze the coexistence of current technologies for identification with identification on smartphones, which represents the next step in mobile evolution, which step by step is becoming a trend for several years now.
"The concept of mobile identification has been growing in importance for citizens around the world and simultaneously mobile devices are becoming more powerful and secure. Beyond mobile identifications, they are also used to open doors, in security applications in airports, hotels and car rentals, among others. But we must not forget that, today, physical identifications (passport, license, ID, etc.) have proven to be the safest form of identification that currently exists. The coexistence between the physical world and the mobile world is precisely what we want to analyze with the audience," said Jorge Castrillo.
It is important to note that a mobile ID is a government-issued id card, which is securely supplied on a citizen's smartphone (i.e., a mobile phone can be used instead of, or as a complement to, a physical identity). The real security lies in the fact that these mobile identifications can be verified by authorized third parties, using different devices, among others, phones and tablets.
"For most citizens, privacy is the element that generates the greatest concern, but with mobile IDs users can be sure that they will always be in control of the device, they will always know who is requesting the information and they will have the discretion to decide what information they want to share. This type of mobile identification marks the evolution of physical identification cards" and will complement them with new functionalities practically unimaginable a few years ago, castrillo said.
It's important to remember that it's currently estimated that more than a third of the world's population owns a smartphone, or about 2.6 billion smartphone users, according to Statista. The manufacturer Ericsson, estimates that by 2020 this number will increase to 6,100 million, which indicates that citizens will make use of their smart devices to carry out an endless number of transactions.
