Latin America. After official approval by the antitrust authorities, the business alliance established between Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corporation in the field of video surveillance is effective from February 1, 2017 – except china where the company will start from April 1, 2017. Both companies will focus on strengthening their collaboration, which was announced in November 2016.
The establishment of this alliance involves joint collaboration in sales such as marketing and also technical collaboration. As part of the agreement, sony's video surveillance workers have joined a new bosch Security Systems team, recently created by the organization.
Sony Video Surveillance customers around the world, except Japan, will be taken care of and supported by this new equipment. "We are happy to welcome them to this group of experienced colleagues in our organization and are convinced that we will further grow the business with Sony products by providing excellent support and service to our customers," says Michael Hirsch, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Sony's Security business at Bosch.
"We are pleased to learn that Sony Video Surveillance customers are now served by Bosch Security Systems. We are moving forward with this partnership which will bring product development that drives our expertise and leadership in image quality and performance," said Toru Katsumoto, President/Deputy Of Imaging Products and Solutions, Sony Corporation.
On technical cooperation, both companies are aiming for new standards in reference to high resolution, combined with excellent light sensitivity, complemented by Bosch's expertise in embedded analytics and bitrate management techniques (bandwidth optimization).
In March 2017, Sony will launch eight new models of video security cameras in Full HD (1080p), within its sixth generation (G6) line, meeting the growing demands for better image and clarity in the video security market. The new super sensitive 6th Generation (G6) cameras ensure the color integrity of images even in extreme low light situations. At the same time, Bosch is updating its portfolio of video analytics and bandwidth management. Starting in May 2017, all IP 4000 series cameras will come equipped with embedded analytics as standard, as well as the latest bit handling techniques combined with H.265 video encoding, reducing the bit rate by up to 80%. Both Sony and Bosch innovations will be presented at ISC West 2017 (April 5-7) in Las Vegas, USA.
The first jointly developed products should be launched in 2018. "We look forward to offering the best video surveillance solutions for our customers, both for existing and new markets," says Gert van Iperen, President of Bosch's Security Systems Division.
