Mexico. More than 3.45 billion people traveled by air during 2015 worldwide according to figures from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which means that today airport security is not a minor issue. In Latin America, the volume of passengers mobilized has had an upward curve and, in that sense, the need to have robust authentication and security systems is increasing.
For this reason, HID Global will bring to the second version of the Latin America Airport Expansion Summit, its mobility solutions and those of SAFE for small airports, a limited version of our main products SAFE for airports and Safe for Secure Cloud, a product that can also be used by small airports. "For the company this event is of great importance as each country has a different set of aviation rules and regulations. Quantum Secure is interested in improving SAFE to comply with rules and regulations," said Aroldo Carvalho, regional vice president of Quantum Secure in Latin America.
On the other hand, there is the control of access and identification of personnel authorized to work at airports. To meet these needs, HID Global will participate with its Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) business area, where the integration between identification cards and biometric systems is becoming the security and control standard for this type of facility.
"A card by itself gives you an acknowledgment of the element that the person possesses. The challenge now is that it has to be linked with biometric systems to ensure that the cardholder is the owner, in such a way that a double authentication system is generated where the system has to recognize what I have and what I am, "says Alejandro Espinosa, sales director of the Physical Access Control Business Unit for northern Latin America at HID Global.
These challenges and trends in airport security will be part of the novelties that HID will present during the Latin America Airport Expansion Summit, where government officials, investors, civil aviation authorities and airport management groups will be able to interact with consultants, architects, construction companies, equipment suppliers and service groups, in order to better explore the market and support the development of projects. The technology meeting will take place in Mexico City, Mexico on November 10 and 11.
