International. OT (Oberthur Technologies), a global provider of integrated security software products and services, and Toppan (Toppan Printing), one of Japan's leading printing companies, announced their partnership to offer Japanese cardholders the OT MOTION CODETM, a dynamic cryptogram payment card, and the COSMO OTP, a payment card that generates one-time passwords. OTP).
The OT MOTION CODETM solution provides a higher level of security for e-commerce. The technology replaces the fixed three-digit security code, printed on the back of the card, with a mini-screen that displays a random code that changes automatically, usually every hour. In addition to the cards, the solution includes a specific server, synchronized with the algorithm and the changing rules defined on the cards. For the cardholder, the solution is completely transparent and secure: it does not require the installation of plug-in in his browser, there is no need to press buttons, the code appears in the same location of the card, as the traditional one. And if it is stolen, the code is quickly rendered useless for the fraudster. In this way, issuers can provide a simple but very secure tool to pay online with confidence.
The partnership between OT and Toppan will also include COSMO OTP technology. This high-tech card features a six-digit e-paper display and a button that generates an OTP to secure online banking. This functionality, usually provided by a separate security device, is now combined with payment on the same card. Therefore, the lives of customers are made easier, while reducing administration and distribution costs for the bank.
Toppan will use OT technology for these display cards, which will be issued by Japanese banks. With its extensive card production capacity, Toppan is today a reliable supplier to most major Japanese banks and credit card issuers. OT is present worldwide, has 1250 clients, including the most prestigious banking institutions, and has implemented OT MOTION CODETM tests in Europe, Russia, the Middle East and Africa (RMEA) and Latin America.
