E-commerce in Colombia grows by leaps and bounds

Colombia. According to the Colombian Chamber of Electronic Commerce in its second study of 2016, it confirmed that the well-known e-Commerce represented about 9,961 million dollars in transactions in 2015, which represents 2.62% of GDP [Gross Domestic Product].

Undoubtedly, e-Commerce is the channel with the highest growth today, its participation in the national market is getting bigger every day and more entrepreneurs join this way of marketing their products. Oscar Gómez, Founder and CEO of JuanRegala.com, states that they expect an exponential growth of e-commerce for the coming years. "That's what we're preparing for, JuanRegala.com joins this trend and competes in its niche, for a growing market," he said.

JuanRegala.com has 400 products online, closed 2015 with 400,000 visits and have an average of 13,000 gift deliveries a year in Bogotá and Medellín. Its goal for 2017 is to reach 1,500,000 visits, offer 1,000 products in its portfolio, expand its distribution network in cities such as Cali, Barranquilla, Bucaramanga, Manizales, among other cities and deliver 36,000 gifts a year in Colombia. In recent years they have maintained a 60% average annual growth. Additionally, by 2021 they expect to replicate the business model in Mexico and Chile.

"Guided by the data obtained in purchases we are constantly looking to improve the service experience for our customers, seeking to innovate in order to facilitate the purchase to all those people who want to surprise or brighten someone's day," says Oscar Gómez.

Convenience and ease of purchase are predominant reasons that motivate and bring the consumer closer to online shopping.

An added value that it has when sending gifts online, is that it saves the time that would be spent moving from one place to another, facing the traffic of a city like Bogotá and, likewise, the time that would be spent in searching for the ideal product in a physical store, a person can spend around four hours, while virtually this maneuver is reduced to minutes.

Another issue is costs. With the aim of encouraging virtual operations, online stores constantly offer promotions on certain product lines that can reach 15 or 20 percent savings compared to the prices of a physical warehouse. According to Oscar Gómez, Founder and CEO of JuanRegala.com discounts showed an increase in visits to the portal.

On the other hand, being able to monitor the purchase is one of the great benefits offered by JuanRegala.com, which has a tracking system for each order, so the customer can know the current status of their order and know if the person you want to surprise has received their gift.

The platform serves for mobile devices, "being an e-commerce portal handles more information than a normal web portal, our challenge is to simplify the shopping experience made from a mobile and we work daily is this," said Sebastián Ocampo, Digital Marketing Coordinator of JuanRegala.com.

www.juanregala.com works with one of the most recognized e-commerce software in the world: Magento, this is a platform that provides flexibility when it comes to making purchases online. There orders, prices, discounts are handled, new suppliers can be added, invoices can be extracted, customer purchase history maintained, taxes, and an algorithm was developed that allows the user to choose a desired range of delivery hours that is in sync with the production capacities of each supplier.

The platform has service 7 days a week 24 hours a day, "a user can make his purchase at any time of the day, any day of the week and from any country. There are some limitations of deliveries on domeingo days since each supplier handles different times but we specify this when making the purchase, "said Oscar Gómez, Founder and CEO of JuanRegala.com.
