Mexico. The retail industry in Mexico has reached sales of 421 billion dollars, according to the 2015 Global Retail Development Index of A.T. Kearney, which places the country within a stage of maturation and commercial development.
Inventory protection and worker accountability are crucial to retail operations, as embezzlement in this sector costs millions of dollars a year, whether with shrinkage, theft, and so on. The National Survey of Victimization of Companies of the INEGI, estimates that of every ten thousand economic units, 1,199 are victims of ant theft.
To prevent losses, the access of unauthorized persons to the establishment and the low or no administration of entrances and exits, Kaba, an international company dedicated to the development and manufacture of innovative solutions in access control and security, recommends:
Place a control lock that manages access in warehouses or service warehouses in order to reduce product shrinkage;
Perform a monthly or bimonthly surprise audit, where access or exit to the facilities is not allowed;
Have managers who carry out a general weekly inventory;
Establish a place to store the things of the staff (lockers) and customers (parcels);
Implement cameras and surveillance systems inside and outside the facilities;
Incorporate metal detector bars into access points;
Install access control systems to manage and control access points for staff and suppliers.
For example, the Swiss company Manor AG, which covers 70 businesses and 12,000 employees with more than 100 different trades, works with a full integration solution from SAP and Kaba Benzing for time management, access control and payroll accounting. The system shows positive results: simplification of administrative tasks, time savings, error prevention, cost reduction and shorter reaction times.
