Mexico. Rostec, the conglomerate of Russian companies for the development, manufacture and export of industrial products and high technology, will be in charge of developing the communications and information technology project of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 and the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017. The state corporation will evaluate the total cost figure and select contractors from among different operators.
The project includes the description and budget of the technological solutions involved in the creation of the communications infrastructure and services necessary for the preparation and celebration of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 World Cup. The list of services offered includes the data transmission network, telephony, satellite communications and radio telecommunications according to TETRA standards, as well as services for viewers.
Rostec brings together more than 700 industrial companies, grouped into 15 holdings and 21 direct companies, from different sectors, such as: infrastructure, construction, automotive, aerospace, metallurgy, IT, optics, among others. "Rostec is the largest producer and consumer of solutions in the field of Information Technology in the country," said rostec's director of strategic research and communications. Vasily Brovko.
"The corporation has the broadest spectrum of technical skills necessary for the development of this type of project. Among these, Rostec has a long national and international experience in the preparation of large-scale events and complex logistics and infrastructure projects. It also has the capacity to integrate IT solutions in large infrastructure facilities and companies," said Brovkó, adding that specialists are carrying out a comprehensive assessment of the resources that communications operators can use in the creation of exclusive information and telecommunication infrastructures.
"The result of the work will be the economic evaluation of the total costs and the proposal of a comprehensive systematic project to create and improve the Information and Communications Infrastructure in the 11 cities where the tournament will be held," says Vasili Brovko. One of the direct executors of the contract could be the National Information Center, subsidiary company of Rostec.
The National Information Centre created a special department that brings together experts from the field of building communication and IT infrastructures for sporting events. The department employs architects, analysts, engineers and technical directors who participated in the preparation and holding of the Kazan University Games in 2013, the Sochi Olympics in 2014 and the European Games in Baku in 2015. After carrying out the necessary work, a list of operators that can provide services for the coverage of communications will be drawn up.
Deadline for completion of the work: March 31, 2016.
