Colombia. In order to strengthen security in Cartagena, the administration of Dionisio Vélez supervised the installation of the first 11 of 236 cameras, which will support the Police.
The cameras were installed last week by the company Unión Temporal Seguridad Ciudadana and it is expected that all the devices, which will be located in critical points of the city, will be working before the end of the year.
For his part, Mayor Dionisio Vélez said that "we are complying in each of these processes. Before we leave we are going to deliver to the city 236 installed cameras, we have already started with the installation, the poles are being placed, all the optical fiber".
Similarly, the president said that the cameras can be monitored and visualized "in the Police Control Unit and are ready to record 24 hours a day and in real time everything that happens in Cartagena. We said that we were going to deliver 250 cameras, unfortunately for time we will not be able to install them all, but they are already guaranteed and acquired. Without a doubt, this strengthens the action of the Police."
To comply with the delivery of the cameras, it is projected that between 10 and 15 cameras will be installed in different parts of the city, mainly in the Fredonia, Olaya Herrera, Centro, La Esperanza and La María neighborhoods.
At the moment, the 11 devices installed are in the neighborhoods Torices, Los Caracoles, Vía Perimetral and the Muelle de La Bodeguita.
