Latin America. HID Global recently announced that it is working with Microsoft to bolster security in cloud applications while allowing users to access them by simply pressing a smart card against a laptop, tablet, smartphone and other NFC (Near Field Communication) devices. Thanks to this integration, Office 365 users will be able to perform their daily tasks more efficiently thanks to HID's new solution, ActivID® Tap Authentication.
"We are very excited about our collaboration with Microsoft and the possibility of moving the industry towards a new level of strong authentication security, while enabling convenient and simple access," said Ian Lowe, executive product marketing manager for HID Global's Identity Assurance division. "Retailers will be able to use ActivID Tap Authentication to more easily access shop floor inventory and payment control systems. Healthcare professionals and business users, who typically sign up 20 or more times a day, can now replace complicated passwords with a tap of their devices, enjoying a simpler access experience and a higher level of security. We continue to explore new opportunities with Microsoft that will allow us to bring the ActivID Tap Authentication solution to a growing group of users and applications."
"Microsoft is thrilled to be collaborating with HID Global to offer our mutual customers a great choice when accessing Office 365 and other cloud applications, as well as online services," said Jen Field, executive program manager, Microsoft. "The combination of HID Global's ActivID Tap Authentication solution and Microsoft's Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) will help our retail customers and our other customers simplify for their users access to corporate applications, data and services in the cloud, anywhere, anytime, from the mobile device of their choice and with the same smart card they use to open doors."
Launched in April of this year, ActivID Tap Authentication for Microsoft employs Seos® technology and is tightly integrated with Windows Server 2012 R2 Active Directory Federation Services and HID Global's Authentication Cloud Service. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 laptops and desktops , Android™ tablets and other mobile devices through NFC technology.
