International. Axis Communications has been awarded the prestigious Good Design Award 2015 for its AXIS Q61-E PTZ Dome Camera series. The Good Design Award, also known as the "G Mark Award", from the Japanese Institute for Design Promotion, is a mark of excellence and recognizes the design of innovative products.
The Axis Q61-E series was also distinguished with the 2015 SSA Award in the CCTV category at the Safety and Security Show last week in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, due to its innovative way of managing different lighting conditions as well as difficult weather conditions.
AXIS Q61-E Series features a unique design concept, which was the result of listening to customers and partners. To better blend in with the environment when mounted, the cameras can be easily repainted and are 45% smaller than previous models. Its unique dome geometry allows operators to identify objects above the camera's horizon and the Speed Dry function makes the cameras vibrate effectively by shaking off water droplets in rainy conditions.
"With AXIS Q61-E series, we break with conventional designs and introduce a completely new dome geometry that offers effective video surveillance of objects above the camera's horizon," says Erik Frännlid, Director of Product Management at Axis Communications. "We also got a glimpse of nature and a dog shaking off the water inspired our Speed Dry feature, which quickly removes water droplets from the dome glass. Winning this prestigious design award underscores our commitment to continuously innovate as we strive to offer our customers the smartest solutions."
An inclined chamber design deflects water droplets and a non-stick heated silicone ring prevents ice formation to ensure reliable operation in all weather conditions.
