Mexico. The city council of Centro agreed with local businessmen the immediate installation of 250 video surveillance cameras in different parts of this city, in order to inhibit criminal acts and have evidence of mishaps or illicit acts.
Mayor Humberto de los Santos Bertruy said that the cameras can be monitored 24 hours a day, with the capacity to store information for up to 30 days. At the signing of the agreement with local businessmen, he said that with this technology it will be possible to identify those allegedly responsible for an illicit act, implement operations based on graphic information, as well as design and link strategies with police and road authorities at the state or federal level.
Accompanied by the state prosecutor, Fernando Valenzuela Pernas, the municipal president of Centro (Villahermosa), said that data can also be accumulated to know the modus operandi of criminal groups. He indicated that it will be possible to prevent crimes in businesses, as well as give more security to people who go to restaurants or shops, or who move through the streets. "Achieving a safer city will increase competitiveness, because order and peace are conditions for personal development, families and companies," he said.
On behalf of the businessmen, the builder Raúl Aréchiga Guajardo, said that in the face of the criminal acts in the city, a group of businessmen agreed to support the authorities to combat crime. In this way, he said, the project "adopts a camera" was created, which through an investment of 10 million pesos by the city council, 250 video recording systems were acquired, which for each one are two cameras. "That is, there are 500 high-definition cameras to record people, cars, license plates, with the cooperation of entrepreneurs to form a safe and information corridor, with the purpose of making this city safe again as before," he concluded.
