Mexico, the second highest in the cost of cybercrime in the LATAM region

Mexico. In recent years, the energy sector has become a key target, falling victim to 70% of attacks, followed by the construction, finance and insurance industries, which are also suffering the consequences of cybercrime.

Malware, hacking, and phishing are among the most frequent cyberattacks. Phishing (private or financial identity theft) is particularly affecting the banking sector and is expected to increase by 25% this year. Consequently, Mexico occupies the second highest in the cost of cybercrime in the LATAM region, with an economic loss of 3 million dollars, an amount that is expected to increase in the near future.

The Corporate Security Forum Mexico 2015 will address cybersecurity as a priority issue for companies that currently operate or wish to develop activities in the country. Senior security experts from key organizations such as Pemex and the Bank of Mexico will share tips on how to combat and prevent cybercrime.

The Forum will also address new regulations for the security sector, threats from drug cartels, operation technology and corporate IT, criminal activity in the workplace, areas of high risk to employees, justification security budget, effective communication management, narco-corruption, internal misconduct, and the latest localization technologies, among others.

The Forum is sponsored by AFIMAC, Grupo IPS de México, Raytheon Websense and Cerberus Consulting. The meeting is also supported by the Supply Chain Security Council, the Mexican Internet Association, ALAPSI (Association of Information Security Professionals of Latin America) and the Cybersecurity Industrial Center (CCI).
