Colombia. Fortinet announced that FortiOS 5.0 obtained the rigorous Network Devices Protection Profile (NDPP) Common Criteria (CC) certification. Earning this certification demonstrates Fortinet's commitment to protecting its public sector customers, taking into account the continued rise of cybercrime globally.
This is the eighth certification that the FortiOS and FortiGate product lines have received. The first certification obtained by Fortinet for FortiOS 2.0 was in 2005. This recent Common Criteria certification covers a total of 53 FortiGate, FortiWiFi and FortiSwitch devices, thus validating that Fortinet products provide the best security to critical network infrastructures, in government organizations, from end to end.
Common Criteria comprises a series of international security standards that from a rigorous evaluation certifies the reliability and capacity in terms of security of computer products. It further confirms that the development, evaluation and validation of the products has been carried out in compliance with strict safety standards in accordance with an independent evaluation accepted by the most safety-conscious customers, such as the federal governments. The Common Criteria certification has an important international scope and is currently recognized by 25 nations, which allows users from other countries to acquire the products that hold it, with a high level of confidence.
Having obtained the Common Criteria certificate is a sign of Fortinet's commitment, which is always available for evaluations and tests by third parties, as well as validations and certifications; and adds to the company's long list of technical credentials, which also include recognitions from NSS Laboratories, ICSA Laboratories, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Department of Defense (DoD UC APL) and the Standards for the Federal Information Process (FIPS), among others.
"Organizations face significant challenges in the cyber threat landscape, which is changing every day," said John Maddison, vice president of marketing at Fortinet.
"These challenges may be greater due to the confusion generated by the wide range of highly publicized products on the market, from which IT departments must select the best option to protect their critical assets. Advertising is not enough to determine the true quality of products, so Fortinet has always rigorously validated the value and efficiency of its products through third parties. Today Common Criteria expands our industry-unprecedented portfolio of certifications, and further confirms our commitment to developing the best solutions to help organizations protect their most valuable assets," said Maddison.
