Colombia. After last April 30 was chosen among five proponents to the Temporary Union Citizen Security, to execute the contract for the installation of the first 100 surveillance cameras in Cartagena, the contractor confirmed to the District Administration the installation of 58 additional cameras, as an added value to the contract.
It is worth noting that through the Ministry of the Interior, the District made an agreement to achieve the installation of 250 surveillance cameras in the city. The project is in its first stage, which includes the first 100 cameras. It is worth more than $5 billion, of which the District contributed $1.25 billion. With the second stage, the aim is to achieve the other 150.
"We were meeting with representatives of the Temporary Union of Citizen Security. We were informed that 99 dome cameras are coming, with full hd resolution, but the great news is that we have 58 additional fixed cameras that will also be installed in Cartagena as an added value to the contract. The District does not bear these expenses and we would then have in this first stage 157 cameras for security in the city, "said Roberto Barrios, Secretary of the Interior.
According to the official, the Temporary Union citizen security said it has made 8 percent progress in its work schedule, which it develops through three phases.
"They are currently in the first phase, which includes fieldwork, to identify the points where each camera will be installed. Then, follows the adaptation of the monitoring center of these cameras that will be in the Automatic Dispatch Center (CDA) of the Police; to finish with the laying of networks and installation of cameras. The contract ends in December, on that date the city must have these first 157 cameras," he said.
