Venezuela. Authorities of the Ministry of People's Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace (MPPRIJP) and representatives of the union of drivers of the different public transport lines of the country, met a few days ago with the aim of reviewing in a general way all the problems and requirements in terms of citizen security.
Manuel Pérez Urdaneta, Deputy Minister of Prevention and Citizen Security, commented that the plan to install GPS and cameras to the land transport units was resumed to intensify security in this service.
"The devices that were delivered are being reviewed to determine their operability and maintenance. This allows us to keep track of the vehicles, and in case of theft, they can be located expeditiously, "said the Deputy Minister.
The issue of safety in some trunks and highways of the country was also addressed. In this regard, it was agreed to increase the number of police officers at urban and interurban stops and terminals, in order to reduce the incidence of crime, as well as to reinforce patrolling and permanent control points, to prevent both passengers and drivers from being victims of crime.
"We have to guarantee the safety of all Venezuelans, even more so when the July-August school holiday season begins and part of September," Pérez Urdaneta reiterated.
