Latin America. Long distances for video and data transmission are often the main challenge in CCTV installations at airports. However, NVT equipment facilitates transmission over distances of more than 300 meters with PoE and EoC technology.
Menlo Park, California, June 22, 2015 – Network Video Technologies (NVT) TBus® equipment with its renowned features of high performance, reliability and extended support, are the best option to migrate to IP in demanding facilities, such as Linden Airport in New Jersey, USA, where a complete modernization of all its security systems was carried out, including the installation of a video surveillance circuit with IP cameras and video analytics.
Thanks to EoC (Ethernet over Coax) and PoE (Power over Ethernet) technology, the migration to the new system had significant savings in the installation of new cabling with the use of TBus equipment, allowing the reuse of existing coaxial cable throughout the airport and managing to transmit video and data from distances between 15 and 300 meters.
"NVT's equipment increased safety improvements by savings in cable costs and installation time," explains Paul Dudley, Linden Airport Administrator.
Linden Airport is a regional airport that is located a few miles from Newark Airport, covering a total area of 760,000 square meters and where about 120 air operations take place a day, most of them commercial aviation. Due to the good performance of the equipment, in the future it is planned to add more IP cameras in strategic locations using NVT's TBus and PoE technology.
For its part, Latin America has a significant number of airports that operate regionally, some of which have carried out modernization processes in their infrastructure and equipment in recent years, mainly to meet the increase in the number of passengers using this means of transport.
Taking into account that passenger traffic in the region grew 6.4% in 2014, according to calculations by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), especially in markets such as Mexico, Colombia and Chile, airports must strengthen their video surveillance systems to monitor the growing traffic of people, through tools such as IP video analytics.
Like Linden Airport, migration to IP in Latin American regional airports, without investing large sums of money, is possible using equipment such as those offered by NVT that take advantage of the coaxial wiring of analog CCTV, achieving significant savings in implementation, in addition to significantly expanding the distances covered, thus guaranteeing the safety of travelers and visitors.
