Mexico. The Mexican Association of Private Security Companies (AMESP), consolidated a project with the National Council for Standardization and Certification of Labor Competencies (Conocer) endorsed by the Ministry of Public Education, which recognizes the organization as a training, evaluation and certification entity at the national level.
By completing this process, the interest of intramural security companies to become certified has rebounded, which in turn allows advances in the regulation of corporations throughout the country, since firms that comply with quality processes are positioned with greater demand in their services.
In addition, this achievement will give certainty to the users of private security about the reaction and the appropriate competences of the intramural guards before any contingency or risk situation in the place they guard, said the president of the Amesp, Marcos Ossio Rangel. The most recent data reveals that private security companies employ more than 500,000 people and contribute 1.6% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), he said.
As a certifying entity, said Ossio Rangel, Amesp has the endorsement of Conocer and the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), so it will be able to increase the quality of private security elements, and therefore, of companies through constant and timely training, whose action is adjuvant with the federal government, as well as with the states.
The executive said that the General Directorate of Private Security (DGSP) of the National Security Commission (CNS) is the only agency authorized by the federal government to recognize the legality of service provider companies when they operate in two or more states, since no private entity has that endorsement. "Do not be fooled by media and erroneous information, end users can dial 5484-0300 to request information from service providers," he added.
As a certifying body, Amesp will not only benefit its associates, but will extend it to surveillance and custody companies that are not on the group's register; the objective is to improve security processes and services in the sector, said the business representative. With this, the association adds to the tasks carried out by the DGSP in the matter to regulate and identify security service providers, said Marcos Ossio.
According to AMESP, Mexico has many opportunities in the areas of education and training, so it addresses these issues, in order to promote the competencies and abilities of people whose values together allow the use of knowledge and skills in favor of society. Another project that will strengthen the certification of private security companies is the creation of the National Chamber of the Private Security Industry, since this body will undoubtedly be the guiding axis to continue with the reorganization of the sector, he said.
These efforts, said Ossio Rangel, are the ideal framework to achieve a strong, organized and professional sector, but above all they contribute to the competitiveness and economic development of the country. "Amesp has built bridges of collaboration with the authorities to identify and invite companies that do not have the corresponding permit, to register and be certified, to increase formality and corporate responsibility," he said.
