El Salvador. The Municipal Mayor's Office of Chalchuapa, Santa Ana, recently launched the first stage of the video surveillance system in the city, as part of a program of violence prevention and support for public safety.
The first stage of the project also includes the launch of the Preventive Security Agents Corps (CASP), as part of municipal efforts in support of the municipality's security.
"For the Chalchuapaneca population, the security of the municipality is one of the main problems and that is why we began the launch of this video surveillance program in strategic points of the municipality in its first stage," said Jorge Ibáñez, a member of the Chalchuapaneco municipal council.
The system, he said, will begin operations in the center of the municipality and the monitoring center will be controlled by the National Civil Police. The first stage includes the placement of eight rotating cameras in 360 degrees and 10 fixed cameras, plus the vehicular equipment of the CASP.
