Colombia. In a ceremonial act headed by the Secretary of Government, Guillermo Alfonso Jaramillo, 480 panic buttons were delivered to different taxi drivers in Bogotá, who seek to offer a safer service for users of this transport in the Colombian capital.
Through the application 'digitaxpluss', which can be downloaded for free from smartphones and tablets, users can have this new application that in case of emergency, gives the possibility to communicate with the taxi station or the nearest point of the police.
"Citizens request the taxi service, immediately appear the license plates of the vehicle, mobile number, name of the driver, and georeferencing of where the vehicle is and where it goes, to know how long it takes, within the service if something out of the ordinary happens, press the device 'guardian angel' that communicates it to the taxi station and the nearest point of the police," Jaramillo reported.
For his part, Hugo Ospina, leader in the taxi drivers' guild, invited Bogota residents to download the application to combat theft in the streets of the city, "now this safe application is a reality, if citizens do not need their guardian angel, do not invoke it, let's use this service responsibly."
In addition, the application helps users in case of theft of cell phones, because at the time of registration, you must enter the data of your cell phone, helping to locate the authorities where the device is located.
"People will be safer in their homes, because if they sense something strange, they can activate the panic button, the signal will be received by our taxi station and by the police, we taxi drivers will quickly go to provide the service of 'guardian angels'," added Hugo Ospina.
