Venezuela. The National Government is advancing the second phase of police restructuring in the state of Nueva Esparta, with the upcoming activation of a new emergency service 171 and a complex video surveillance system, announced the Minister for Interior Relations and Justice, Néstor Reverol.
Referring to the implementation of the new service 171 and video surveillance, he explained that the construction of the care and emergency center is already close to completion, with an investment of 21 million bolivars (US$4.8 million).
"The camera system will be deployed in the most critical areas, according to the georeferencing of the crime that has been carried out by the Venezuelan Security Observatory in conjunction with the Scientific, Criminal and Criminalistic Investigations Corps (CICPC). The focus of attention will be focused, above all, on the commercial area of Porlamar, "he explained.
"We are making a commitment to continue increasing the operational levels of the Nueva Esparta Police," he said.
From the second half of 2013, another batch of units will be delivered to strengthen security in the island entity, the minister added.
