Peru. In order to provide security to the population during the end of the year festivities, the Provincial Municipality of Arequipa is working on the installation of 60 video surveillance cameras in areas bordering the Cercado with other districts of the city.
The deputy municipal manager of Citizen Security, Antonio Bustamante Bedoya, indicated that the specialized personnel who are responsible for the installation of the equipment must finish this work before December 24. "We want to offer security to the population in these parties, monitoring streets and avenues through video cameras," he said.
He pointed out that the equipment, which was donated by the Cerro Verde Civil Association, will be located in sectors considered unsafe.
The official mentioned that between 10 and 15 interventions are carried out daily, thanks to the images monitored by the staff in the operations center, which allows reducing crime rates in the city.
