International. Alan Goode, founder of Goode Intelligence, wrote on his blog about Smart Mobile Identity and the next generation of mobile-based authentication and identity verification products.
Goode explains that mobile authentication is moving towards services that design authentication applications specifically for mobile devices, taking advantage of the functions of the devices to achieve authentication, such as microphones for voice biometrics, GPS sensors to validate geolocation, cameras for face and iris biometrics, as well as storage with digital certificate in the SIM or in a secure element.
The next generation of authentication for mobile smart devices could include NFC and fingerprint or voice recognition using embedded sensors or additional accessories. If this picks up steam, the market for added devices that capture biometric data in the field could become obsolete.
That market is already changing as companies, such as Apple, acquire tech companies in order to introduce new authentication methods directly on mobile devices.
In response, Goode Intelligence has written two white papers on the subject and hopes to publish more reports on this matter in the near future.
