Colombia. The councilman of Bogotá, Horacio José Serpa, denounced that there are strategic sites for security in the capital where there are no cameras or they have been out of service for more than 500 days.
The lobbyist said that in places like 26th Street with Americas and 26th Street with Carrera 24 there are cameras that have not worked for 500 and 400 days respectively, without any response from the authorities.
"These 110 cameras that are damaged by technological obsolescence, incompatibility with the monitoring platform, electrical problems and awaiting maintenance and repair of the service," he said.
Serpa asked for support and response from the Surveillance Fund of the capital, since the purchase of the 385 cameras in the city cost the capital more than 40,000 million pesos (about US $ 22 million).
"The figures are scandalous, two cameras located on 26th Street with Av. Americas and the other on 34th Street with Carrera 17 have not worked for 517 days, 1 camera installed on 26th Street with Carrera 24, 483 days without working, 11 cameras that are in the Northwest of the city are useless, which exceed 300 days in that state, 10 more cameras, located in the center and north of the city, which exceed 200 days without working, 27 cameras in various parts of the city that carry the sad sum of more than 100 days without serving for their end, and 65 cameras that do not work between one and a hundred days, " the lobbyist affirmed.
