Argentina. Antonio Bonfatti, governor of Santa Fe, announced that 600 security cameras will be installed in the provincial capital and in Rosario, which will make it possible to identify the license plate of a vehicle and the face of its occupants.
Bonfatti explained at a press conference that the security measure will require an investment of US $ 8.6 million and that the placement of the cameras will be completed in a period of eight months.
The governor of Santa Fe made the announcement together with the mayor of Rosario, Mónica Fein, and the ministers of Security, Raúl Lamberto, and of Government and State Reform, Rubén Galassi.
The cameras "have an analytical video software that allows the recognition of patents and faces, and the generation of information for forensic analysis," said the provincial president.
According to Bonfatti, "when the camera identifies the number of a car with a capture request, it triggers a 911 alarm," the police emergency telephone line.
In this way, "it will allow a preventive approach to the vehicle," he said.
In addition, he said that in a "next stage" measures will be taken to develop a communications system, "with an expected investment of US $ 21.5 million," he said.
