Goal 2012: 100 video surveillance cameras and connect them with 911

altArgentina. The Municipality of Rosario wants to reach the end of the year to implement 100 video surveillance cameras that can connect with the 911 service. The main areas that would hierarchize are: avenues, public spaces and hospital sectors.

Mónica Fein (Intendenta), Fernando Asegurado (Secretary of Government) and Raúl Lamberto (Minister of Security) presented the annual balance of the Center for Monitoring and Citizen Attention in Ricchieri 1545 (ex GUM). Currently in Rosario "there are 31 cameras in force, and in 60 days 75 more will be incorporated," said Asegurado. In addition, they are waiting for the resolution to come out in the Council that regulates the use of these and can be connected directly with the 911 emergency service.

With regard to the project, it proposes the modification of the Code of Misdemeanours in order to be able to draw up acts of infringement "in real time". At the moment, the initiative is within the agenda of the Council, but it has not yet been treated, that is why "the stipulated time does not depend on the Government," said Fernando Asegurado.

The proposal has two completed tenders: one was carried out in the management of former mayor Miguel Lifschitz, who installed 20 cameras, while the second was carried out by the current president of Rosario. The latter reaches an amount of US $ 1.2 million with which a total of 100 video surveillance cameras strategically located in the city would be reached.

It is also proposed the incorporation of more agents to control and manage the new tools, since it is debated whether to expand or inaugurate a branch of the island (Monitoring Center).

Mónica Fein, by way of conclusion, commented that "the balance presented has as a consequence a positive balance, since it was possible to register the urban areas where more crimes, infractions, contraventions are commented, marking a map of the most compromised areas in terms of illicit activities", such as the Bus Terminal, Monument to the Flag, the intersection between Puccio and Colombres; while in the context of traffic accidents, the sectors with the highest index are the corners of Oroño and 27 de Febrero and Oroño and Pellegrini.
