International. The thefts committed in the Grounds of the Camp Nou in Barcelona, where in addition to the stadium is located the Museu del Barça, one of the most popular football clubs in the world, have fallen this season by 10%, thanks to its video surveillance systems.
Between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012 the figures have improved, with 253 robberies, when in the same period of the previous year there were 280, mainly due to the reorganization of security that the football club has made and a strengthening of the exchange of information with the Mossos d'Esquadra
In an interview with Europa Press, the chief inspector of the les Corts de los Mossos police station, Josep Saumell, explained that "the Barça Museum is the second most visited museum in Spain and the most visited in Catalonia", and in the summer season it can receive 12,000 visitors a day.
Therefore, the figures of thefts are "little relevant" taking into account the volume of people who come to the field on match day, up to 60,000 people, and the large influx of the museum.
According to Saumell, among other improvements, Barça security has relocated video surveillance cameras in the museum, and for example there is one to have the face of all visitors recorded when they enter, so they can take into account if someone repeats many times in the same week, since many regular pickpockets pay the entrance of 23 euros to be able to 'work' inside.
