International. The company Check Point has shared ten tips to avoid the risks derived from the amount of malware, spam, false pages, links that lead to dangerous websites or downloads of infected files, which currently circulate on the network.
Here we present these recommendations, which will surely be very useful:
1. Configure the network securely and with passwords enabled. If you use a wireless router, change the default password.
2. Use a licensed antivirus and always keep it up to date. Install a firewall.
3. Do not open emails without knowing the origin of the senders. Avoid it especially if the subject is personalized with your name or with some personal data or directs you directly to a link.
4. Do not download files without checking source sources.
5. Do not visit web pages or sign up for any website that you do not consider one hundred percent safe.
6. Be attentive to the contents: behind a link with an excessively striking or surprising content or after a message with a subject of that type can hide a trick of attraction.
7. Consider minors a high-risk group: Turn on and set up parental control if possible.
8. If connecting from mobile: Please note that all operating systems including Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows pose their own security challenges. Threats can come from mobile apps, browsers, or a Bluetooth system or Wi-Fi hotspot that is not secure enough.
9. Social networks: the creation of fake profiles is a common practice of cybercriminals. Be wary of profiles with a suspicious number of friends or followers or with misleading names.
10. If you find any evidence of a fake page or believe you are a victim of any online deception, go to the authorities.
