Colombia. In the security council that was held a few days ago in Cali, the President of the Republic Juan Manuel Santos announced that an investment of US $ 18.3 million will be made in technology to increase security in the capital of Valle del Cauca, including video surveillance equipment.
According to Santos, the number of security cameras that will be located in strategic sites and areas to combat the underworld in that city will be increased.
"There is already the decision and the appropriate resources for 100 more cameras, they are asking us for another 100 and we are seeing if we can, through Fonsecon, finance those other 100 additional cameras, that is, it would be 200 cameras, but for now we have 100 insured," Santos announced.
In addition to these new cameras, the national government and the Police have been developing a security strategy that has worked in the cities of Medellín and Bogotá and is that through improvements in the Immediate Attention Commands (CAI), which are located on the periphery of the city, it will also seek to improve the security and control of trucks and cars that enter the capital of the Valley.
"In that, plate reading cameras will be installed in two substations and in the five peripherals that are around Cali and that will be connected to the Automatic Center of Desapacho of the Metropolitan of Cali, a scanner will also be installed for cargo vehicles at the entrances to the city," said the President.
