International. Jacksonville International and Tallahassee Regional airports have implemented security corridors with Flex Pass services, in which biometric systems for identification are integrated.
The service is different from other screening programs where there is no background check, participants don't even have to give a social security number, or a biometric component. Clear, an agile security program, conducts a background check and authenticates an individual at the airport using biometrics.
Users give their full name, credit card number, home address and email address, then they are registered in the program. Flex Pass costs $100 a year, but travelers can also purchase a day pass for $20.
Although it only works at those two airports, Flex Pass reported that others will be added. Clear operates at Denver, San Francisco and Orlando International Airports.
The Transportation Security Administration also has an agile security program called PreCheck in place. Eligible participants include certain frequent flyers from airlines integrated into the program, as well as members of Customs and Border Protection's trusted traveler programs – Global Entry, SENTRI and NEXUS – who are U.S. citizens and fly through airlines covered by such programs.
By the end of 2012 PreCheck will be operating with select airlines at 35 airports across the U.S.
