Mexico. The installation of 52 surveillance cameras in the urban perimeter of the city of Mexicalí is the first step in a project that seeks to use technology to improve community safety and reduce crime rates.
The value of the investment made amounts to 13 million Mexican pesos, and initially the project will cover an area of 5 kilometers in diameter around the central command of the city.
In the future, the municipal entities plan to incorporate more equipment with capacity for detecting vehicle license plates and increase the video surveillance system to reach 200 cameras. In addition to the above, it is expected that the images captured can be used in the future as evidence in court proceedings.
Among the technical specifications included in the devices, their ability to detect faces and make digital approaches up to 600 meters away stands out.
