Ecuador. Recently, the Government of Ecuador approved a new law called the Fire Prevention, Mitigation and Protection Regulation, which obliges all new architectural and engineering projects and existing buildings to use robust fire protection systems based on NFPA 72 Regulations and other previous regulations maintained by fire departments.
This measure has begun to benefit the companies integrating this type of electronic security solutions, since due to the rigidity of the standard all buildings that present a risk of loss are obliged to comply with the requirements to avoid a penalty.
Eng. Patricio Fustillos, commercial manager of Siaproci told VENTAS DE SEGURIDAD that "the benefit is great, since there is not a single architectural or engineering project that can be realized without including these elements of the law, therefore the builder and / or owner must necessarily seek the solution of provision of the required equipment. The security companies that offer these systems will be in greater demand."
According to Fustillos, the continuous cases of fires involved the fire departments in permanent training and in the development of building regulations, due to the number of fire events caused by the lack of construction under regulations.
Regarding the percentage of growth for the industry, Patricio commented that "the previous year the firefighters already generated the habitability permit and most constructions had to install security systems. In my opinion we already had 70% of the constructions with fire systems; with this regulation 100% of these constructions must necessarily do so, otherwise their construction plans and permits will not be processed, so I estimate that the growth will be at 30%".
The standard also invites to improve the quality of these solutions since previously it was only enough to install an alarm panel with smoke detectors, now every installation requires at least fire panels, which increases the safety of the premises and people in general.
