HID Global and Sony Corporation announced the signing of a strategic alliance to jointly develop an embedded contactless smart card reader platform for the global personal computer market.The new embedded reader will offer support for Sony's FeliCa contactless card technology, HID Global's iCLASS credentials, in addition to other widely adopted technologies. In addition, this reader solution will allow working with applications based on the Near Field Communication (NFC) protocol, in the new NFC world.
Through this partnership, both companies will expand their product solutions to increase the advantages and convenience of contactless applications worldwide. Sources from the companies explained that the product may be available by the end of this year.
