21/10/2010 With 100% private investment, the construction of the Security Plaza "Los Leones" is 80% advanced and, according to the organizers, will have 55 premises where everything from security systems to armored clothing will be marketed.
The commercial director of the square, Laura González, said that the purpose of this shopping center to be inaugurated in March 2011 is to offer citizens increasingly vulnerable to organized crime products with state-of-the-art technology and professional services whose commercialization will be strictly attached to the law.
He stressed that among the tenants will be companies of proven quality such as Miguel Caballero, a firm dedicated to the sale of armored clothing.
He argued that it is intended to prevent the population from going to places like Tepito to buy products of dubious quality, such as pocket gases for personal protection, among others.
According to the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (Concamin), in a year, each person in the country allocates 770 dollars on average, that is, 9,640 pesos, on issues related to security, equivalent to 7% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The agency assures that of the 770 dollars, 2.1% is destined to transfers (victims to perpetrators); 0.8% to the payment of insurance against insecurity and the rest to the contracting of public and private security services.
Likewise, and based on data from the Citizen Institute of Studies on Insecurity, more locks were placed in 24.5% of households; in 16.2% bars and fences were installed and in 15.7% a guard dog was acquired; while in 15.1% protection for the family car was increased.
Meanwhile, the cars stolen from January to September of this year totaled 57,341. This figure compared to 2009, shows an increase of 15.8%, with a volume of stolen vehicles of 49,518, according to information from the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS).
The commercial director of the Plaza de Seguridad and member of the Garma Group, said that the innovative concept of the shopping center arose from the need to protect the heritage and physical integrity of the people, to professionalize the private security service and to disseminate the culture of prevention.
"These products and services are concentrated in one place. Every person or company requires some security product regardless of their social or economic class and even more so the bodyguards, police, investigators, military and even journalists," he said.
The square is located in Periférico Sur and Las Flores Avenue and forms the first part of a project that also includes the construction of the Security Business Center that will have a heliport, banking institutions and gym to be completed in 2012.
