United States. HID Global is partnering with Identica Holdings Corp to provide new scanners that will read the vein pattern of the hands of users at a chain of gyms located in the St. Louis area. Identica will incorporate HID's contactless smart card technology into its vascular scanners. This binding allows Identica's VP-II scanner to capture and encode an individual's unique vascular patterns on the back of the hand. The person presents the reader with hid's iCLASS card, which stores a coded template of their vascular pattern. He then presents his hand to the scanner and the actual vascular pattern is compared to the stored template, thus identifying the individual in 0.1 seconds, verifying his identity and whether he is a member of Club Fitness.
