This card called Internet ID-Card, stores the user's fingerprint information and can only be activated by the user. This is the most secure system that exists in terms of online banking and works without the need to install any hardware or software, as explained by Enrique Torres, Siemens' Director of Technology in Spain.
The card incorporates a small LCD screen and a series of optical sensors on its back, which are capable of interpreting an encrypted optical signal sent on the PC screen by the financial institution and that does not require any physical contact. This signal contains information and specific details about the banking operation that the client has requested to carry out. Once decrypted, a transaction authorization code is displayed on the user's card screen and, once entered, the financial institution authorizes the operation.
