Spain. Taxi drivers in Cordoba will install security cameras in their vehicles in order to record customers and deter potential robbers. This idea was presented by the president of the Association of Autonomous Taxi and Radiotaxi of Córdoba, Miguel Ruano.
Ruano explained that this proposal is being discussed with the Junta de Andalucía, which would be the one that would authorize the adoption of this protection measure, also hopes to have municipal support, since this project includes the dissemination of advertising inside taxis, through TFT screens connected to portable DVD players that only passengers will see.
The idea is that with the advertising system you can self-finance the installation of the security solution, which has a total cost of 840 euros, which includes the camera and the recording device, the aforementioned portable DVD players and their corresponding TFT screens, and a seven-inch monitor on which you can see, both by the taxi driver and by his customers, what the security camera records.
