Venezuela. By means of contactless cards, the new payment of the ticket of the mass transport system of Caracas is made, which is in its training phase at the Pérez Bonalde, La Hoyada and Parque Carabobo stations.
According to Claudio Farías, president of the subway, it is expected that this modality will be in operation in the second half of 2009, since the technological processes for the implementation of the ticket collection based on the proximity card or without contact are already being finalized.
These cards offer greater advantages than magnetic tickets, as they are more durable and speed up the process of entering the subway by not requiring physical contact with readers.
