Peru. The municipality of San Isidro in Lima has 16 new high-speed wireless digital cameras and the latest technology, located at strategic points that monitor and reinforce the security of the place.These equipment were ordered by the neighbors and approved by the municipal administration after the number of cameras was determined in an analysis made to the records of incidents of the years 2006, 2007 and 2008, and the fieldwork of the Citizen Security Management.
The new cameras are added to the 46 that the district already had, and the idea of the municipality is to buy 76 more cameras to complete by 2009 the 138 surveillance cameras necessary to optimize security in the district. The video surveillance solutions were acquired for an approximate amount of 530 thousand nuevos soles from the Participatory Budget. These cameras have a range of 350 meters of digital zoom , rotate 360º degrees and have a visual capacity as if they were 10 meters away, they also allow the recording of 21 continuous days. Its installation was carried out on an eight-meter pole, in order to detect faces of people and targets as accurately as possible.
