Sara Amorim - VivotekSara Amorim, Global Key Account Manager of VIVOTEK, tells us about the company's plans to continue strengthening its presence in Latin America.

by Security Sales

VIVOTEK is one of the main companies specialized in electronic security that is firmly committed to the Latin American market. Over the years the brand has been expanding its presence in the region, something that is evident with the offices they have in key countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.

Their goal is to continue increasing that participation and for this they have a professional in charge of making the name of VIVOTEK sound strong in Latin America and globally. She is Sara Amorim, Global Key Account Manager, with whom we talked about the brand's plans, the technologies that are taking more strength and we also learned about their challenges in the company.

Security Sales: What is VIVOTEK's current commitment in the Latin American market?
Sara Amorim: VIVOTEK is a leading brand in the IP surveillance industry and markets its solutions worldwide. In Latin America we already have 3 offices, in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil and we continue to hire more officials for the region. The current reality is complex and a slowdown in investments was noticed, however, we have technological foundations to continue growing in Latin America. It is a market in which we have set many expectations and in which, year after year, we register sustained growth.

VDS: How do you want to differentiate VIVOTEK from the competition in Latin America?
Sara: This year has been a year of adaptation to the new reality, not only because of the issue of Covid-19, but also because of several other factors: the trade war between the US and China, data protection and cybersecurity.

We are entering an era where billions of devices will be able to store and transmit data over the Internet. As more and more network cameras connect to the Internet, protecting these computers against cyberattacks is vital to VIVOTEK. Faced with this scenario and knowing that network cameras are easy targets for hackers, VIVOTEK allied with Trend Micro and they made it a priority to develop the IoT Security for Surveillance solution. With this, VIVOTEK cameras automatically detect and neutralize attacks designed for credential theft, network service attempts, brute force login and any suspicious events. Currently, we are the only camera manufacturers with this type of counter-attack technology.

VDS: How do you analyze the current electronic security market in Latin America?
Sara: Although the market seems saturated with several participants already present, analysts continue to show predictions of a value of more than $ 1.4 billion dollars in 2023 for the Latin American video surveillance market. With such a level of growth, future requirements are not only limited to surveillance cameras or recorders, but include complete solutions that interact with each other without limitations. When combined with artificial intelligence algorithms, cameras will play an increasingly important role in intelligent process automation.

VDS: What technologies has the brand been developing for our region?
Sara: Our vision is to become the eye of the IoT (Internet of Things) and we have adopted an advanced AI engine in all our analytics. This allows us greater accuracy and fewer false alarms. The built-in VIVOTEK Smart VCA package includes advanced intrusion detection, loitering, line crossing, abandoned object, missing object, face detection, capacity control and running person detection.

VDS: What are your main challenges as a Global Key Account Manager at VIVOTEK?
Sara: One of the main challenges in our industry is that an account usually takes a long time to become lucrative. Therefore, the main challenge as a Global Key Account Manager will be to master the science of selecting and structuring global accounts. Instead of striving to obtain a large number of accounts, our focus will be on identifying accounts with greater growth potential and actively participating in the business of our most important clients.

VDS: With the emergence of Covid, how much did VIVOTEK's business strategy change? At what points did they concentrate?
Sara: Given the current scenario, VIVOTEK launched a new AI solution for crowd control and physical distancing. The advantage of this solution is that video data can be analyzed and applied in real time, allowing you to respond quickly to any changes.

There are four video analytics that are commonly implemented to take precautionary measures: queue management, people counting, crowd detection, and personal protective equipment (PPE) detection. In a post-COVID-19 world, the solution can be scaled up as a business intelligence solution to optimize operations efficiently.

VDS: For you, what has the experience of working with this brand been like?
Sara: I feel very fortunate to be part of VIVOTEK and part of this industry. I identify very much with the brand's mission to increase the safety of the world. I identify a lot with how dynamic our industry is where everything changes very fast and staying up to date is a constant task. I am passionate about what I do, I love helping our clients and I am very fortunate to have met great people throughout my career. I am convinced that little by little we will be able to make the world a better place.

VDS: How do you envision VIVOTEK in the next five years in Latin America?
Sara: Some events that can be predicted for sure after the pandemic is that the world will be increasingly digitized and automated. For this reason, companies and institutions will have to think about how to rebuild the economic model, making use of the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution.

Today, cameras are no longer just devices capable of capturing images. When combined with artificial intelligence algorithms, cameras will play an increasingly important role in process automation.

Artificial intelligence is giving surveillance cameras digital brains and we believe that in the near future cameras will help us analyze live video, predict behaviors and prevent crimes even before they occur. The cameras will not serve as a total replacement for the human being, but as a tool for intelligent automation of processes that can help us all.
