Multi-site control was centralized in a Control Room that monitors, detects and analyzes incidents in real time and in high resolution.
The challenge:
Install an IP CCTV system in Coca-Cola Andina de Chile that guarantees security in 16 of its buildings throughout the country.
The solution:
Milestone's XProtect Corporate Edition software enabled the intelligent integration of Axis, Sony, Hikvision, Dahua cameras and OPTEX perimeter security controls with the IP CCTV system.
The Advantages:
In addition to integrating hardware from different manufacturers in the market, the open platform software, Milestone Systems, provided all the exceptions to the network so that the corporate anti-virus did not interfere with the visualization system, thus respecting the corporate security policies of the Andina network.
The platform allows video to be recorded and viewed by authorized persons from anywhere on the network to achieve control of multiple sites that are centralized in one place. This eliminates the need to double the staff or equipment at each location with potential savings of thousands of dollars in salaries and equipment costs. Maintenance and service costs can also be reduced, because IP-based systems can be adjusted, revised or even reconfigured remotely without the need to execute technical visits.
Coca-Cola Andina is the seventh largest bottler of the Coca-Cola Company system, the multinational employs around twenty thousand people in the four countries where it trades: Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Chile.
In the case of Coca-Cola Andina Chile, the company is organized in 18 buildings, in four production plants and has approximately five thousand employees.
Given these dimensions, the company undertook a project to completely change its analogous security system; the objective achieved is that today they have a modern IP CCTV system that allows to reduce current threats and losses in the operation of the company.
"Coca-Cola Andina had a basic analog system that did not allow them to control in real time the Patrimonial Security procedures or perform forensic analysis on the images to determine the causes in the errors," explains Romina Zamora, commercial manager of CTIS-GROUP, integrating firm of the project.
Coca-Cola Andina had already bought the hardware corresponding to the cameras and therefore was looking for an open platform software compatible with security devices.
"Many manufacturers in the market ensure open platforms. We knew that our competition, software and hardware manufacturer, did not meet this requirement. Therefore, we recommend our client to request a demonstration of interoperability, which allowed us to be awarded this project and its maintenance by demonstrating the openness of the platform."
For these reasons, Andina preferred to install the XProtect Corporate Edition 2014 version 7, a video management software (VMS) over IP that manages all types of cameras and security devices, which in this case correspond to the manufacturers: Hikvision, Axis and Dahua, and to the access control systems of OPTEC.
The project began five years ago, the installation was carried out in 16 of the 18 buildings of Coca-Cola Andina Chile and lasted a month. The size of the buildings is diverse, ranging from 8 hectares the smallest to 27 hectares the largest.
"Since we started working with the Milestone management interface, we have lowered the intrusion rates, which is of the utmost importance because inside the facilities there are banking entities in charge of collecting our values," says Guillermo Ampuero, deputy manager of Patrimonial Security and General Services at Coca-Cola Andina Chile.
The system is primarily responsible for perimeter security and controlling logistics procedures to reduce internal losses.
"Currently in Chile, thefts from ATMs and vehicles from parking lots are increasing. This challenges us to implement new measures within the platform to be able to detect this type of cases in real time, which is what interests us," explains Ampuero.
Incidentally, Coca-Cola Andina de Chile certifies its staff with Milestone and contracts an on-site and remote maintenance service, which includes the permanent training of the platform for the operators of the centralized CCTV room.
Currently, the centralized CCTV room works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with two operators for each shift, focused on the control of Patrimonial Security procedures through the execution of automated responses, such as zooming in on an object that is generating an alarm, or displaying the video of an area that presents risks.
In parallel, the bottler is working on updating the 2014 version of milestone's software to add the functionalities of the 2016 version.
"The result has been very positive, Milestone innovates every year adding new functionalities. Now maps and geo-reference have been incorporated, which allows us to show the client that our choice of platform gives a return on their investments through the 'Care Pack' and a direct benefit", concludes Romina Zamora.
On the part of Coca-Cola Andina, Guillermo assures that they are planning to expand the system with master video recording and security cameras in other branches.
"We have a positive impression of the return on investment in these last five years, since it is a very important tool for us in what is the loss control that we have established inside the facilities, basically supported by the platform and security cameras," adds the official.
