The Ministry of Justice of the Nation reported that there are "more than 12,000 complaints per year for violation of the law on the protection of personal data" and that in this area, banks are the most demanded.
According to official data, financial institutions were accused in 70% of the 12,000 annual complaints received by the National Directorate for the Protection of Personal Data.
The remaining 30% is divided between complaints against public utilities (20%) and commercial reports (10%), said the report of the Ministry of Justice, led by Julio Alak.
Of the complaints against banks, the ministry added in a statement, 95% are made for alleged violation of the right to rectification, update or deletion of data protected in article 16 of the Law on Protection of Personal Data.
Meanwhile, 4%, for violation of article 27, referring to the withdrawal or blocking of information from databases for advertising purposes and the remaining 1% for not respecting article 14 of the same rule, regarding the right of access to your personal data.
