Until now, it was possible to use Twitter safely by browsing the url https://twitter.com. However, since yesterday, as Twitter published on its blog, it is already possible to configure the account so that it always connects through the HTTPS protocol and, in this way, facilitate safe browsing through its website.
Enabling the secure HTTPS connection permanently in an account is very simple, you simply have to follow the following steps:
1. Go to the Settings option located at the top right of the page:
3. Press the Save button to make the new configuration change effective
Performing the above steps will prevent anyone who is monitoring a network from being able to get a user's private information on Twitter. It should be noted that this new setting is not automatic for all Twitter services. For example, in mobile browsers at the moment you will have to continue typing the url https://mobile.twitter.com. However, Twitter is working on a solution that brings the new configuration to all its services.
For all those who use an application developed by third parties for Twitter, they should make sure if it offers support for HTTPS. INTECO developed a study on Security in Twitter clients that can help.
