Brazil. Panasonic in partnership with the Japanese company Allied Telesis have created the ICT infrastructure for the Arena Pantanal stadium, built for the World Cup Brazil 2014.
This infrastructure will provide telephony with voice and data (IP) service, video surveillance, digital signage, access controls, some sound controls and, of course, Internet access. This will turn the Arena Pantanal into the "Smart Stadium" of the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
The stadium in the city of Cuiaba, mato Grosso state, will be the scene of many of the matches that will be played in the World Cup that will begin on June 12, 2014.
The capacity of the stadium is 43,000 fans and has a flexible structure, in order to adapt it to the future needs that may arise after the event.
The complete project consists of two data centers located on both sides of the court, each capable of independently supporting all the traffic that the stadium generates at its highest point. These data centers link more than twenty operating rooms located throughout the stadium, from where all operations can be integrated and controlled. This project guarantees a complete operation at all times, connecting all the equipment and its controls.
For Masahiro Shinada, Vice President of Panasonic of Brazil, the alliance between Panasonic and Allied Telesis is based on a common experience in this field. "Allied Telesis solutions are of high quality, capable of successfully handling a large volume of multimedia traffic. And Panasonic contributes to core surveillance and voice solutions."
Francesco Stramezzi, General Manager Emea and CSA at Allied Telesis, said: "This is not only a very interesting and important project where Allied Telesis is involved, but it is also a global opportunity to contribute to a global upheaval event, while showcasing the flexibility, reliability and environmental sustainability of our solutions."
This is the first smart stadium within a World Cup, which creates a commitment of technology companies to the Internet globally and forces them to expose what they are doing to communicate it in a better way to the world.
