BIS 4.6. The Ultimate Answer to Indefinite Security Challenges

Latin America. Although the size and nature of companies and their buildings vary (from a bank on the main street to a state-of-the-art nuclear power plant), what they have in common are the challenges they face when establishing and managing an effective security system: inadequate reaction to alarms, the unmanageable diversity of systems and the absence of video verification are just some of the reasons why companies question the value of their security investment.

At Bosch we believe that this issue is more than solved with our intelligent Building Integration System.

Building Integration System (BIS) is a software solution that provides integrated management of subsystems such as access control, video surveillance, fire alarms, public address systems, intrusion detection systems and fundamental technologies (VAT and VRM). And all this in a single platform.

BIS has proven its reliability in more than 3000 installations and 10 million detectors worldwide. Thanks to the prompt adaptation to the latest developments and functions, as well as the improvement of assistance for pre-configuration and installation through templates, technical articles and a large number of training materials; the beneficiaries of this continuous optimization are the system itself and the end users.

With the release of version 4.6, Bosch has incorporated new access control functionalities designed specifically for office buildings and has improved the possibilities of integration with trusted external subsystems.

Fully integrated access control
BIS Access Engine (ACE) is an access control software within the Building Integration System. It contains all the fundamental functions of any independent access control system, to which is added a complete range of optional improvements.

In response to the need for convenient and flexible management of access privileges in day-to-day operations, BIS ACE 4.6 offers offices greater control options for doors in low and intermediate security areas. The custom permanent opening functionality allows users to leave predefined doors permanently unlocked, which is especially useful in the case of incidents or during office hours when there are many people who need to access specific areas.

The flexibility of BIS 4.6 is evident. In addition to wired door control solutions, it now offers the opportunity to wirelessly integrate SimonsVoss SmartIntego electronic locks and also introduces fingerprint- or card-only opening modes to facilitate and streamline access. If you need greater security precautions, you still have the option to use BioEntry W2 double authentication (show fingerprint and card).

Future-proof integration with external devices
With the introduction of version 4.6, BIS is now fully compatible with the Unified Architecture (UA) protocol developed by the OPC Foundation. OPC UA support and the increasing number of OPC UA compatible devices enhances the integration of external subsystems, making it a future-proof system. To ensure the possibility of further integrating older systems, BIS 4.6 remains compatible with Classic OPC.

One of the many possibilities for integration using OPC UA is the ability of BIS 4.6 to support light and building functionalities using the Rexroth IoT-compatible programmable logic controller (ILC). The result of this collaboration is the possibility of offering operators a solution capable of monitoring and controlling systems such as air conditioning, lighting, supplies, windows and blinds from a single BIS user interface. This integration further increases safety and security by allowing operators to set up automatic lighting in the event of an evacuation. In addition, when combined with camera recordings and live visualizations, BIS can provide accurate lighting and visibility when and where needed.

Through this integration, BIS 4.6 evolves from requirements focused on safety and security to a centralized platform for operational building management.

Data protection and privacy of individuals
BIS is always at the forefront of technology, thanks to regular software updates that keep your system up to date with the latest it developments (operating systems, high availability and virtualization solutions, etc.) and with the essential requirements of security and protection. By staying up-to-date, as demonstrated by the new version 4.6, BIS can protect sensitive information such as event logs and personal data, encrypt and protect all communications between servers, clients, controllers and readers, and protect against malware by testing the security of millions of passwords. Even by staying true to its nature, BIS can help companies that must comply with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
