HID Global Expands GoID Features for the Government Segment

Latin America. HID Global announced the expansion of its HID goID solution to offer a comprehensive system for implementing and managing a mobile citizen ID program. From issuance to verification, HID's goID is backed by the high security standards for data, communications and privacy protection used in today's electronic physical identification (eID) programs.

"This is a critical step in getting the most out of our goID solution, as we expand its mobile ID provisioning, updating and suspension capabilities and include the full range of features of citizen ID programs," said Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren, vice president and general manager of HID Global's citizen ID division. "Governments now have everything they need to transition to a fully mobile society, including support to integrate goIDs with existing issuance systems, develop a citizen app, and ensure compliance with international standards on digital credentials."

Among the main components of the goID solution is an issuance system, which uses HID Global's renowned Integrale™ modular software package for the management of physical and mobile identifications; a gateway for the provisioning of mobile IDs that can be managed locally by governments and offered as a service; and a software development kit (SDK) for the development of a citizen application to meet local requirements. HID Global also provides extensive support and training for the creation and implementation of citizen application and verification solutions.

The goID solution includes commercial line data structures that allow governments to issue mobile passports that will help meet digital travel credentials currently being developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and issue mobile driver's licenses that will help promote compliance with iso18013-5 specifications being developed by the International Organization for Standardization. (ISO).

The solution allows countries to move from paper or electronic documents to mobile IDs, streamlining proof of issuance of IDs through wireless provisioning directly to citizens' phones. Protect privacy with end-to-end encryption and four levels of security mechanisms to combat fraud. In addition, citizens can control what verification data they share and with whom they do it. Post-issuance technologies keep mobile IDs up to date and reliable, and verification can be performed from distances of up to 20 meters (66 feet).

HID goID also allows issuing authorities to easily add other government agencies and authorized private sector entities to their ecosystem. This creates new opportunities to improve communication between governments and their citizens, while opening the door for people to carry many different citizen and business IDs in one handy mobile app.
