Milestone client acceleration with hardware power
Milestone's 2018 R1 Smart Client enables hardware acceleration, thanks to which system performance can be increased by simply adding a compatible graphics card that can process the heavy load imposed by video decoding, leaving room for the system to process other tasks. This means that the user can view more streams in HD or Ultra HD by simply adding one or more compatible graphics cards to the computer that is running the XProtect Smart Client, which saves costs on upgrades and expands the use of the system. Milestone is a pioneer in the use of various NVIDIA graphics cards to achieve high performance.
Cost savings and incident prevention with low-cost monitors
Support for DLNA (Network Digital Lifestyle Alliance) technology, used for video sharing, allows users to connect their VMS system to any DLNA-compatible TV and view videos captured from cameras without the need for a Smart Client. This feature is of great value to retail stores, kiosks, gas stations, and police facilities that require viewing video of a given area. The function can also have a preventive use: to show malicious people that there is a video surveillance system present. This can be a deterrent to avoid incidents and losses. The feature will give users the ability to create a rotating flow of all cameras, or selected cameras in their facility, to have a global and dynamic visual representation.
Improved privacy masking through profile management
Selective blurring of some regions of video images allows Milestone users to easily meet privacy requirements. The blur can be permanently applied to the stored video or it can be removable depending on the user's profile. This gives Milestone customers the ability to freely choose the optimal camera positions, while complying with privacy regulations, and maintaining a level of environmental recognition that cannot be achieved when vulnerable areas are displayed in black.
New features in Milestone XProtect 2018 R1
Among the many operational enhancements of this version of XProtect is an optimized software installer with automatic detection of hardware devices. This is a faster structure for Milestone Device Pack versions with managed drivers so that customers only need to download a subset of all device drivers.
