Latin America. Axis Communications launches the first thermal cameras in its P line, AXIS P1280-E and AXIS P1290 with the benefits of thermography for a wider range of customers and environments. The new equipment provides thermal imaging with the aim of meeting the security needs for small and medium-sized businesses, such as schools, nursing homes, hospitals and retail stores, allowing the detection of intruders and incidents, without compromising the identity of people.
Thermal technology ensures reliable detection with a low rate of false alarms, but so far the high costs of high-quality thermography have been out of reach for small and medium-sized businesses with limited budgets. AXIS P1280-E's New Thermal Network Camera is a compact indoor and outdoor camera that allows the thermal sensor unit to be placed in space-constrained locations and features a wide range of wall and ceiling mounting accessories. AXIS P1290 Thermal Network Camera is a discreet dome camera designed for indoors.
AXIS P1289-E and AXIS P1290 network thermal cameras can be used to ensure the safety of people and property in different environments. The devices feature built-in video analytics, such as AXIS Video Motion Detection, which can send an alert when it detects movement of objects within a predefined area. Additionally, the cameras integrate AXIS Camera Application Platform, which is compatible with a wide range of third-party applications.
"In environments where people's privacy must be respected as in schools, nursing homes or hospitals, thermography detects incidents without revealing physical details in the image. With the help of video analytics, these new cameras can trigger alerts or alarms in response to patient falls, allowing staff to act immediately. In another type of scenario, users can perform monitoring remotely, which will allow staff to work more efficiently, in the particular case of hospitals patients can rest without being disturbed. Similarly, it is possible to use thermal imaging to keep students safe inside a school, without having staff physically present in each room or hallway, which invades the student's privacy. In addition, the cameras can be installed indoors and outdoors to identify unauthorized access, during or after school hours," explains Francisco Ramírez, Country Manager for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean at Axis Communications.
AXIS P1280-E and AXIS P1290 network thermal cameras are available through Axis distribution channels.
