Latin America. Bosch has released an update to the Building Integration System (BIS) software. BIS 4.4 extends two key access control functions: centralized management of card users and overall system resilience. The centralized card user management feature allows corporate security operators to create, update, and delete card users, as well as assign and withdraw authorizations from them, centrally.
With BIS 4.4, the operator has better tools to centrally monitor all events and access and all alarms of all connected centers, as in an entire network of stations of an underground public transport system. It is also a perfect solution for producing industries or global energy and oil companies, which usually work from facilities spread across different geographical areas.
BIS ensures continuous operation thanks to a three-layer architecture. BIS 4.4 enhances this third layer with a master access control server, so that if a host system fails, centralized security features can continue. This increased resilience especially benefits distributed systems, systems in critical infrastructures or manufacturing plants where uninterrupted 24/7 operation is needed, such as those found in large global enterprises with many different centers located in different regions.
Along with the increased system availability provided by BIS 4.4, the new version of the software also ensures more efficient license management. Since all information about card users and access authorizations is stored and maintained on a central server, and can be replicated to all connected servers in local centers, data is optimized, duplication of information is eliminated, and an optimal estimate of licensing needs is ensured.
